Weekend update

I felt that my short vacation during Golden week or Golden days for me was just that.. short. I already feel burnt out from work this past week. Things on my project just always seem to get from bad to worse.. its definitely not a fun time. Anyways, enough about my boring job. Highlights from last week were my co-worker's birthday and the other was another co-worker's BBQ.

The birthday dinner was interesting. She is a big fan of the Latin culture so we had her dinner at a Spanish restaurant. The place was pretty good, but one thing that was really gross, which I actually never saw in Tokyo before was while we were eating our appetizers, we actually saw rats running across the floor. When I saw it, all I could think about was my time living in NYC and eating out at Chinatown. Back then, I paid like what 4 bucks for a full meal so I expected my food to come from a place that didn't maintain the highest of conditions. However at the Spanish restaurant, we paid like 65 dollars per head so I totally did not expect re-live my Mushu pork days and see a surprise appearance from Mickey himself. We ended up staying there because the place included a live performance, but I thoroughly inspected my food to make sure my meal didn't include surprise chocolate covered croutons.

The BBQ was much more sanitary even though it was outside. A coworker hosted a BBQ this past weekend along Tamagawa river. The weather forecast was a bit dodgy (What the heck.. how'd that word get stuck in my American vocabulary) as there was a chance of rain during the whole day. While we set out for the BBQ, skies were dark gray but luckily not a single drop came until the BBQ was over and I was on my way home. I ate a lot, which isn't surprising. Luckily, BBQ's in Japan are a bit healthier than ones in the states. Most of the meat were thin sliced, yakiniku style and lots of veggies were served. It was a great time but what sucked was I had to go home an crash early so I could wake up early on Sunday to work. Speaking of work.. I need to go back to it as my Monday morning has just started.
